SARAS is a lightweight Windows desktop app that shows word meanings instantly. This policy explains what data we collect on our website and how we use it.

1. Who We Are

SARAS is developed and maintained by the SARAS team, based in India. You can reach us at support@getsaras.com.

2. What Data We Collect

When you create an account or purchase a license on getsaras.com, we collect:

First and last name
Email address
Date of birth
Occupation (optional)

For payment verification and dispute resolution purposes, we also store limited payment metadata provided by our payment processor, DodoPayments. This includes:

Last four digits of your card (e.g. **** **** **** 1234)
Card network (e.g. Visa, Mastercard)
Billing city, state, country and zip code
Transaction ID and invoice details

We do not collect, store, or have access to your full card number, CVV, or any other sensitive payment credentials. All payment processing is handled securely by DodoPayments. Please refer to DodoPayments' privacy policy for how they handle your payment data.

3. Why We Collect It

We collect this data solely to:

Create and manage your account
Generate and deliver your license key
Send important updates about your purchase
Verify and resolve payment disputes if they arise

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to any third party.

4. How We Store It

Your data is stored securely in a Supabase database (serverless, hosted infrastructure). Access is restricted to the SARAS team only.

5. The SARAS Desktop App

The SARAS Windows app is designed primarily for offline use. It does not collect or store any personal data.

When you double-click a word, SARAS reads that word locally using the Windows API to fetch its meaning. This data is cached temporarily on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.

The app makes the following network calls:

A one-time activation request to getsaras.com when you enter your license key for the first time
Optional Wikipedia lookups when you choose to use the Wikipedia tab within the word popup — this connects directly to Wikipedia's public API

No personal data is transmitted during any of these calls.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. To do so, email us at support@getsaras.com.

For product or technical queries, we aim to respond as soon as possible. For all other requests including data-related inquiries, we will respond within 14 business days.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Any significant changes will be communicated via email to registered users.
